Watch Out National Velvet and Liz Taylor!
14 Year Old Lizzie Snow WINS Open Prelim at Caber
Horse Trials
Portland, Ore. Armed with a mere 14 years of life experience, a
passion for riding, and one very cool horse aptly named ÒJoe CoolÓ, high school
freshman, Lizzie Snow, of Portland took on some of her regions best and won!
Competing against 24 seasoned veterans in the Open Preliminary division
at the Caber Horse Trial in Onalaska, Washington on August 25-27, Lizzie and
Joey came out on top. (The minimum age one must be to compete in the open
division is 14.)
Lizzie
comes from a long line of equestrians. She is the daughter of Gallops Saddlery
co-owner, Diane Dimon Snow and Dan Snow Diane rides and events along side her daughter.
Lizzie's grandfather played polo as a boy and her aunt events with her as
well. There is no question, riding
is in her genes.
Lizzie
attends La Salle High School. She plans to do a one star event in the spring
with Joe Cool and is competing her mother's 9 year old thoroughbred while she
is recovering from a knee injury. After
riding for two weeks this summer on the east coast in the Southern Pines, NC,
with Olympic rider John Williams and mentor Rachel Jurgens, Lizzie aspires to
head east again to continue her eventing career. When pushed about her plans, Lizzie will disclose her quiet
ambition to someday represent the United States in international equestrian
competition. That plan also includes
college according to her parents!
